Muslim Women

Salaam sisters,

So I have finally decided to do this post I’ve been banging on about because recently I’ve been to a few more talks and learnt more, which I hope to share. Let’s begin…

Many people seem to point out that women is Islam are oppressed and have no rights just because they are Muslim females. I couldn’t disagree more with this belief and I will share with you why.

What do you see when you put on the television? How are women represented? This society oppresses women, NOT Islam. The media are constantly portraying that women are only valuable for their looks. This is oppression. Women are used for beauty only as it seems and it’s become ridiculous that women are even now being used to sell such things as chewing gum. Not only are these beautiful women unreal, they have a brain. The media edits and changes what women look like so therefore we aim to achieve a look that is in fact unachievable. The first thing a female is usually judged on is the way she looks. Even myself, I’ve been to many interviews and the first thing I realise is that the interviewer is glancing at my hijab. I then feel upset because my looks do not represent who I am. I am a proud Muslim and I have a brain that should be judged not the way I look.

I’m sure every girl feels ‘ugly’ sometimes, but remember the way you look is not something you can control. Allah has created you the best way he could and you are beautiful in every way. This society does not know the meaning on the beauty of women. You don’t have to be size 0, have the perfect facial structure, and wear the nicest clothes. Women fall in depression and become ill while trying to achieve what is seen as ‘beautiful’ by the media. This, my lovelies is not beauty, this is totally insignificant. 5% of young girls in the UK are anorexic and most because they want to look good. This is harm to their health and is not necessary. I cannot stress enough how wrong the view of women is in society.

Of course nothing is ever totally negative. We are females, it’s in out nature to want to look good, but the importance we give to it is up to us. Please sisters do not feel like you are not beautiful because Wallahi you are!

Islam gives women all the rights we could possibly want. People believe we as Muslim women are oppressed but this is ever so untrue. Islam allows us to work if we wish to, gives us rights as a daughter, wife and a role model in Islam. The greatest teachers in the time of the sahabas were female. We have a brain, we have a personality and we are more than just a face and body. Allah encourages us to portray our intelligence and to represent Islam as a rightful Muslim woman. People believe that Muslim women are particularly oppressed by their husband and that women are allowed to be beaten in Islam. This is untrue, in the Qur’an it says that if the husband is unhappy with his wife’s doing he must give her many warnings and if she continues to do the bad deed then only is he allowed to tap her. Allah loves us women!!!!

I’ll finish up with 2 true beautiful sayings…
“If everyone knew the true status of a Muslim woman in Islam, even the men would want to be women”

"When she is a DAUGHTER, she opens a door of jannah for her father,
When she is a WIFE, she completes hald of the Deen of her husband,
When she is a MOTHER, jannah lies under her feet"

MashAllah

I hope this had benefitted you inShaaAllah and I am sorry if I have offended anyone or said anything incorrect. May Allah increase my knowledge so that I can benefit my sisters in Islam… Salaams, making du’aa for you all xoxo
